Faith Statement

  • The Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings are the inspired, infallible “Word of God”, and the supreme and final authority on all matters of life and faith. No other writings are vested with such divine authority. No new writings, nor any new revelations, can ever replace, supersede, add to, take away from or amend these Scriptures.
  • There is only one God, creator of heaven and earth, who exists eternally as three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God yet each personally distinct from the other.
  • All people are created in God’s image and matter deeply to Him. Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people, and invites them to live in communion with Himself and in community with each other.
  • Apart from Jesus Christ, all people are spiritually dead and, because of rebellion against God (sin), deserve the judgment of God. However, God gives salvation and eternal life to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on their behalf. Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort. It is a gift that must be received by humble repentance and faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross.
  • Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity, was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon Himself all of our sins, was crucified on the cross, died and rose again bodily on the third day, appearing to his disciples, and is at the right hand of the Father as our advocate, mediator and High Priest. Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. Someday, He will return to consummate history and to fulfill the eternal plan of God.
  • There will be a personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.
  • Because of the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God freely forgives those who are brought to repentance and faith in His Son. All who are justified by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
  • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, by which believers are empowered and equipped for service, in the gifts and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, and in the God-given ministries of the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher.
  • The Holy Spirit is third Person of the Trinity. He is the Spirit of Truth and He leads and guides us into all truth. He brings conviction of sin to the world and draws people to Christ. He also indwells all believers. He is available to empower them to lead Christ-like lives, and gives them spiritual gifts with which to serve the Church and reach out to a lost and needy world. We believe gifts of the Spirit in operation are essential to the ministry of the Church. Living a Spirit-filled life leads to the development of Godly character in the fear of God as believers serve and demonstrate devotion to God.
  • Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. At the final judgment, unbelievers will be separated from God into condemnation. Believers will be received into God’s loving presence and rewarded for their faithfulness to Him in this life.
  • AII believers are members of the body of Christ, the one true church universal. Spiritual unity is to be expressed among Christians by acceptance and love of one another across ethnic, cultural, socio¬economic, national, generational, gender, and denominational lines.
  • The company of the called-out ones is known as the Church. The local church is a congregation of believers who gather to pursue the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ, which includes worship, prayer, instruction, encouragement, mutual accountability, and community with each other. Through the Church believers invest time, energy, and resources to fulfill the Great Commission — reaching lost people and discipling them into fully devoted followers of Christ.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ appointed the two sacraments of Baptism in water and Communion (the Lord’s Supper), to be observed as acts of obedience and as perpetual witnesses to the Christian faith. Baptism is the full immersion of the believer in water as confession of identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Communion (The Lord’s Supper, or breaking of Bread), is the partaking of the emblems which symbolize the broken body (bread) and shed blood (cup) of Jesus Christ, in remembrance of His sacrificial death until He comes again. Baptism in water is not a requirement for salvation.
  • We believe the Bible’s teaching that God created man (male) and woman (female) and sexual intimacy is restricted to the God-ordained institution of marriage, which is between one man and one woman until death of either. An individual’s gender and sex are pre-ordained by God at the time of conception. We follow the teachings of the Bible that all extra-marital sexual practices are contrary to God’s will and are specifically mentioned in Romans 1:26-28, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and 1 Timothy 1:8-10. The Bible also teaches that we must not be actively or passively complicit in sin as stated in 1 Timothy 5:22 and 1 Samuel 2 and that faith without works is dead, James 2:17. It is therefore part of our doctrine that in relation to any activities of this church we shall in no way condone, promote, assist or encourage any extra-marital sexual practices as mentioned in Scripture. As a church we will extend God’s saving grace toward all those who are seeking guidance and freedom in the areas of sexual identity, orientation and practice.
